First Assamese film 
Joymati produced under the banner of Chitrakala Movietone in 1935.
First historical film 
Manomati, based on a true story by Rajani Kant Bardoloi was produced and directed by Rohini Kumar Barua. It was released in Kolkata in 1941.
First National Award for Best Film 
Piyali Phukan was made in 1955.
First feature film from Bengal 
JF Madan produced the first feature film Nal Damyanti in 1917. This film had two Italians, Signor and Signora Manelli in the leading roles. A new actress Patience Cooper was also introduced in the film. The film was photographed by cameraman Jyotish Sarkar.
First silent film 
Billwamangal was produced in 1919 under the banner of Madan Theatre.
First talkie 
Jamai Sasti, produced by Madan Theatres was released at Crown Cinema, Kolkata on April 11, 1931 closely followed by Dena Paona, released on Dec 30, 1931.
First single camera 100-minute film 
A 100-minute film X, was shot on 16 mm & 35 mm with a single camera by director-producer Sanjiban Nath under the banner Cine Maa, Kolkata and released on April 4, 2006. The film went on floor at the Varsha Vision, Kolkata on July 16, 2005 with the first shot taken at 9:00 am and the last shot at 9:00 pm with an actual shoot time of eight hours. Sanjiban did the scripting, concept and lyrics for the film and the music was by Chandan Roy Chowdhury.
First film in single angle shot 
H Vasudeva Rao produced and directed a film Operation Ankusha was shot entirely from one angle. Normally films are shot with camera movement varying between 0° — 360°, but Rao's film was shot with a static camera and the movement of the camera was restricted to 180°. The 2 hour 15 min film has 66 scenes and was shot in 610 shots with the actors moving left and right according to the demand of the scene but never moving out of the camera angle. A 60 ft trolley was used to raise the camera to capture the movements of the scene without changing the angle of the camera.

The shooting of the film started on Feb 15, 2007 at 10: 15 am and finished on March 6, 2007 at 2:30 am. The editing was done at Vinay Enterprises Film Editing Centre and dubbing took place at the Cinema Sound Digital Recording Studio in Bangalore. The music was by V Manohar. The film is scheduled to be released on Dec 7, 2007 in Bangalore. Produced under the banner of Aishwarya Movie Creations it includes Jayanthi, Ashok Rao, Padmavasanthi, Chetan, Roopesh, Adithya, Ashwin, Roopashri, Meghana and Aishwarya.
Largest exhibition of still photographs 
KM Veeresh, an active journalist from Bangalore, organised an exhibition 'Chitraloka' displaying film still photographs from all the Kannada films spanning over a period of 72 years starting from the first Kannada film Sati Sulachana (released in 1934) to Mahini released on August I I, 2006. The 2,650 stills from 2,528 films were showcased at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce building, near Shivan and Circle, Bangalore from August 14-20, 2006.
First Gujarati film 
Mumbai ni Shethani, a two-reeler produced by Madan Theatres, Calcutta on Jan 9, 1932, was based on a story by Charnpashibhai Udeshi.
First Gujarati full length feature film 
Narsinh Mehta was released on April 9, 1932 at West End Cinema. The film was directed by Nanubhai Vakil.
